WordPress usage is growing

From a featured talk at the WordCamp conference (http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2011/08/19/growth-of-wordpress/)

15% of ALL websites run WP,  while 22% of new domains run WP, and this percentage is growing.

Less than 10% of WP based sites are for blogs,  over the last few years WP use has become dominated by CMS capabilities.

The hourly rates for WordPress development are $50 median, $58 average.

  1. The 22% of new domains, means we are not talking about how many prefixes there are to ‘wordpress.com’. It also means almost all hosting services allow installation of WP from wordpress.org.
